Centra Langhorne Medical Center
ABOUT
Centra Health is a leading health system serving central and southern Virginia, with a strong commitment to expanding access to high-quality outpatient care. To strengthen its presence in Lynchburg, Centra pursued development of the Langhorne Medical Center, a five-story, 120,874-square-foot multispecialty outpatient hub near Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Strategically located at the intersection of Langhorne Road and Tate Springs Road, the 11-acre site was selected for its visibility, accessibility, and long-term expansion potential. The project was a cornerstone of Centra’s broader modernization and ambulatory growth strategy.
CHALLENGE
Centra’s originally planned on-campus site presented significant limitations, including constrained buildable area, the need for costly structured parking, and complex neighborhood approval requirements. An alternative off-campus parcel offered greater flexibility but introduced substantial challenges, including steep topography, surface rock removal, and city-mandated infrastructure enhancements that required extensive planning and coordination.
SOLUTION
Remedy partnered with Centra to complete a sale-leaseback of the Danville Medical Center and led the planning and development of the new Langhorne Medical Center. Remedy master-planned the off-campus site to address significant topography, infrastructure requirements, trail connectivity, and future expansion, while coordinating closely with the City of Lynchburg and adjacent property owners. Opened in late 2025, the fully occupied facility delivers a comprehensive mix of outpatient services and positions Centra for long-term growth in the Lynchburg market.
