Silver Cross Hospital

Silver Cross Hospital (SCH) and Premier Suburban Medical Group (PSMG) formed a strategic joint venture in 2020 to expand their networks in southwest Chicagoland, with the first multispecialty center planned for the suburb of Orland Park.

SCH parted ways with the project’s initial developer because of its inability to secure financing. Significant issues were left unresolved, putting the project at serious risk of delay and potentially damaging SCH’s partnership with PSMG and its deal with the Village of Orland Park. The project was then awarded to Remedy.

Remedy immediately got to work on entitlements, shared storm drainage design, shared access, and cross easements. (The site is adjacent to a new residential community overlooking a nature preserve.) Remedy’s in-house land manager and legal team played a crucial role in resolving these issues to make up for lost time.

After construction began, Remedy spearheaded an 8-week cost containment initiative without compromising building functionality, staff/patient well-being, or schedule. Design refinements were made to the building envelope, mech/elec systems, doors, and interior finishes — reducing the budget by $1.1 million.

The 41,000 SF development, which includes robust outdoor gathering areas and walking paths connected to the nearby community and nature preserve, was delivered on time and under budget.
